I would like to tell you who I am and why I want to be your State Representative from Iowa House District 61.
I was raised in a very conservative family on a farm in Floyd County Iowa. These conservative values have served me well throughout my life.
Professionally, I am a career transition consultant. I assist people who have lost their jobs. As you might expect, my business is linked closely to the economy. Ever since the current administration took control of our government, my business has been booming.
I decided to run for the Iowa House of Representatives during this past nasty cold winter. I spent more time at home watching the news and got angry when I saw what was happening in our State Government.

When the liberal revenue projections used to construct the State’s budget proved to be overly optimistic, what happened? As mandated by state law, serious 10% across the board budget cuts were instituted impacting the quality and availability of services, as well as causing hardship to the many men and women employed by the State.
This lacks all common sense. I was taught "you can't spend money you don't have". Of all people, my opponent Jo Oldson, Chair of the Appropriations Committee, should have known better than to blindly accept the liberal and unrealistic revenue projection during a period of economic stress.
The incumbent has a 'Spend and Tax' attitude and does not have the common sense to know that she should not spend money that the state does not have and that she should not raise taxes to pay for lack of spending discipline. We need long range planning and strict enforcement of the state's spending limitation laws.
In order to return our State to a position of economic prosperity, we must create a favorable business climate once again like we had under Governors Ray and Brandstad.
We must restore control of our State Government to wise and responsible Republican leadership who will once again forge together a common sense team that cares about the people of
